Beautiful Birds and Bush!
Your tour begins at 9 am when you are driven to the Flora car park at 945 metres above sea level. From here we walk up to the Mt Arthur hut at the bush line, one and a half to two hours on a well-graded track.
Above the bush line, you are rewarded with magnificent views over Tasman Bay and the interior of Kahurangi. On the way, you will be shown the ‘Friends of Flora’ conservation trapping programme, to save the endangered Whio ~ Blue Duck.
Some of the birds that may be seen on the day are Kea, Kaka, Fantail, South Island Robin, Bellbird, Rifleman, Tomtit, Weka, and Kakariki amongst many others.
